Leeches are one of the coolest animals on earth because it's one of the closest things anything is going to get to a vampire. The Leech likes BLOOD (not all leeches suck blood, only the predators). In other words, a leech is a parasite that latches on to it's host and sucks it's blood. A leech is a segmented worm that has suction cups on each of it's end. Leeches are generally flat surprising enough. The size of the leech ranges from 5 millimeters and 25 millimeters. Most leeches live in shallow fresh water , but some are found in the ocean (rarely). Hirudinea are born in the shape of cocoons not allowing them to grow that much after birth. Unlike most annelida, instead of contracting and then expanding, leeches can crawl (creepy). What's also cool is that leeches are used in medical practices to suck out unwanted blood (don't worry, it's the smaller ones).
Like the earthworm, Leeches have a hydrostatic skeleton. The difference though is that the leeches are fatter than the earthworm making it so that the Leech doesn't have enough inner pressure. This makes it harder for the Leech to support itself when it comes
A specific type of leech is the freshwater leech. This is the type of leech commonly found in most horror movies, partially because of it's size and it's craving for BLOOD. This leech is a parasite to larger animals like ducks or even humans. This leech can either attach onto the body through it's back end or it's front end. Once a freshwater leech laches on to an animals flesh, it is very difficult to take it off. You can wait until it has enough blood or somehow try to kill it. Yet, killing it may result in the leech throwing up it's insides into your inside.
