Unlike the other two Platyhelminthes, the Planarian or Tricladida is a non parasitic worm. It is a free living worm and the one of the most simplest of any worm. Most Planarian's are found in water such as saltwater or freshwater, but there are a few species of Planarian who live on land. The Planarian is soft and flat and it is approximately half an inch. In order to eat, the Planarian has a small mouth towards the middle of its body that is covered with cilia that help attract food. It also uses its cilia to move around. What's cool about this animal is that like many carnivorous animals it can use chemicals to attract its pray. It has a long tubular pharynx that secretes a chemical that attracts its pray.
The Planarian has no skeletal system because it lives of diffusion which is made difficult through the skeletal system. Instead it is shaped by connected tissue that forms its shape. That is why the Planarian is so soft, since it has no skeleton. The coolest thing about a planarian is that like a worm if it were to split in two, the Planarian would regenerate.
